HOW TO FEEL MISERABLE AS AN ARTIST

Thu Mar 12, 2009, 11:03 PM
Recently, Promise Tangeman posted this to her blog. Her blog can be found at this [link] and you should seriously check her stuff out if you haven't already.

1. Constantly compare yourself to other artists.
2. Talk to your family about what you do and expect them to cheer you on.
3. Base your success of your entire career on one project.
4. Stick with what you know.
5. Undervalue your expertise.
6. Let money dictate what you do.
7. Bow to societal pressures.
8. Only do work that your family would love.
9. Do whatever the client/customer/gallery owner/patron/investor asks.
10. Set unachievable overwhelming goals to be accomplished by tomorrow.

I would say I am guilty of 1,2, and 10 the most. What about you?

Hey! thanks for adding me!

"Design is the method of putting form and content together. Design, just as art, has multiple definitions; there is no single definition. Design can be art. Design can be aesthetics. Design is so simple, that's why it is so complicated."

~Paul Rand
No problem. ;)

I'd appreciate it if you didn't post random links to your work on my page. :) It is a bit spam-y.
